Israel confirms upcoming release of hostages from Gaza

Israel has announced that it has received a list of captives scheduled for release from Gaza on Thursday, as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

The Prime Minister’s office confirmed on Wednesday evening that it had received the list of captives to be freed. According to Israel’s Army Radio, the individuals to be released include five Thai nationals and three Israelis, among them Arbel Yehud.

The release is part of a broader ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which includes the exchange of hostages and prisoners. Under this agreement, Hamas has committed to releasing hostages in phases, with the initial phase involving the release of three Israeli captives.

The ceasefire, which took effect on January 19, 2025, aims to end over 15 months of conflict between Israel and Hamas. The agreement includes provisions for the release of hostages and prisoners, as well as measures to facilitate the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes in northern Gaza.

The situation remains delicate, with both sides expressing cautious optimism about the ceasefire’s potential to bring lasting peace to the region. International mediators, including Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, continue to play a crucial role in facilitating dialogue and ensuring the implementation of the agreement.

As the process unfolds, families of the captives and the broader international community are closely monitoring developments, hopeful for a resolution that will lead to the safe return of all hostages and a sustainable peace in the region.
