An Israeli airstrike has reportedly killed a senior commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in southern Lebanon. The operation targeted a vehicle in the town of Rechknanay in the Tyre district, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).
Israeli Army Radio confirmed the strike, stating that the individual was a significant figure within Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, though they did not disclose his identity. The Radwan Force is known as Hezbollah’s elite unit, specializing in operations against Israel.
The NNA reported that an Israeli Hermes 450 drone conducted the airstrike, flying at low altitude over Tyre and neighboring villages during the operation. This incident marks a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement established in November, which aimed to halt the cross-border hostilities that had escalated into full-scale conflict last September.
Hezbollah has not yet issued an official statement regarding the airstrike or the reported death of its commander. The militant group has suffered significant losses in recent months, including the assassination of Ibrahim Aqil, commander of the Radwan Force, in a previous Israeli airstrike in Beirut.
This latest development raises concerns about the fragility of the current ceasefire and the potential for renewed violence in the region. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, urging all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to the terms of the ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
