Manchester City signs Vitor Reis from Palmeiras

Manchester City has completed the signing of 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £29.6 million.

Reis, who has made 22 first-team appearances for Palmeiras, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League champions.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Reis stated: “I’m excited to join Manchester City, one of the biggest clubs in the world. Everyone has seen the amazing achievements in recent seasons, and I want to make my mark as we seek more trophies.” He added, “Working with Pep Guardiola is something every young player wants to do, and I know he can help me to develop into the best player I can be.”

Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City’s director of football, described Reis as “one of the most promising young defenders in the world,” highlighting his proficiency on the ball and aerial strength.

This acquisition follows City’s recent signing of Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £33.6 million, as the club seeks to rejuvenate its defensive options.

Reis’s arrival aligns with Manchester City’s strategy of integrating young talents into the squad, aiming to maintain their competitive edge in domestic and European competitions.
