Paul George sidelined due to finger injury

Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George missed the recent game against the Los Angeles Lakers after sustaining tendon damage to the little finger on his non-shooting left hand.

The injury occurred during a game against the Chicago Bulls, leading to George’s absence in the subsequent matchup against the Lakers. An MRI and ultrasound confirmed the tendon damage, and while the team has labeled his status as day-to-day, they are optimistic about a swift return.

This setback adds to George’s challenging season, where he has already missed 15 games due to various injuries, including knee and groin issues. Despite these hurdles, George has maintained an average of 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists over 30 games. Notably, he had a standout performance with 30 points in a recent victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In George’s absence, the 76ers secured a 118-104 victory over the Lakers, with Tyrese Maxey leading the team by scoring 43 points. The team is also managing without star center Joel Embiid, who is sidelined due to a left knee injury. Embiid has participated partially in practice sessions but remains out of the lineup for upcoming games.

The 76ers are hopeful for George’s quick recovery as they prepare for their next game against the Sacramento Kings. His return would provide a significant boost to the team’s performance as they navigate through a season marked by injuries to key players.
