A Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Poltava has resulted in 14 fatalities, including two children, and left 17 others injured.
On Saturday, a missile struck a residential building in Poltava, leading to the immediate deaths of 14 individuals, among them two children. An additional 17 people sustained injuries, with four children among the wounded. Rescue teams have managed to save 22 individuals from the debris.
The attack caused significant damage to 18 residential buildings and several kindergartens in the area. In response, local authorities have declared a three-day period of mourning, lasting until February 4.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched over 40 missiles towards various regions of the country on the same day. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the critical need for enhanced air defense systems, stating, “Every air defense system, every interceptor missile, means a life saved. It is crucial that our partners take action, fulfill our agreements, and increase pressure on Russia.”
